Casket Cassette

A reflection of both the industrial grime and the sun-soaked glow of Los Angeles, Casket Cassette is the project of Constant Williams, blending euphoria and melancholy into a sound that evokes the complexities of the human condition.

The music is dark yet danceable, drawing from post-punk, darkwave, new wave, EBM, synthpop, and alternative influences to create something both nostalgic and new.

The name comes from a childhood memory of Williams’ father recording a live song onto a cassette and placing it into his grandfather’s casket as it was lowered into the ground. That image still lingers in his songwriting, where themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and recovery meet flashes of humor, resilience, and the will to keep moving forward.

Williams lives in Los Angeles and earned his MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in 2024. Casket Cassette will be releasing new music through 2026 and heading overseas in May for its Wave Gotik Treffen debut, marking the start of a new chapter for the project.
